Common problems and solutions for printing and packaging
1) Color deviation: There is a color difference between the printed product and the design draft or customer sample.
Solution: Use a color management system (CMS) to ensure color consistency; calibrate printing equipment and materials regularly; use color value detection instruments. Adjust the color of the file before publishing.
Influence of environmental factors: Changes in temperature and humidity affect the color and physical properties of printed products.
Solution: Control the temperature and humidity of the printing environment; use adaptable materials and inks; and perform appropriate post-processing on printed products.
2) Poor hot stamping: Foil shedding and unclear patterns occur during hot stamping.
Solution: Select suitable hot stamping materials and processes; adjust the temperature and pressure of the hot stamping equipment; perform sample testing before hot stamping. Test the quality of the hot stamping plate, etc.
3) Die-cutting process problems:
Insufficient die-cutting accuracy
Reason: Die-cutting plate manual production error, paper deformation (such as temperature and humidity changes after glazing/lamination), improper equipment debugging.
Solution: Use high-precision die-cutting plate production process (such as laser cutting);
Ensure that die-cutting and printing are carried out under the same temperature and humidity environment, or pre-treat the paper to reduce deformation; optimize the equipment baseline calibration and fine-tuning mechanism
4) Color Box edge or corner burst
Reason: low paper moisture content, uneven die-cutting pressure, poor material folding resistance.
Solution:
- Control the moisture content of the mounting paper (10%-14%), and moisturize it through a wet roller or laminating process;
- Optimize the indentation groove design (width = paper thickness × 1.5 + steel wire thickness);
- Select folding-resistant coating or laminating materials.
5) Paper Box deformation
Reason: Die-cutting indentation is too shallow, adhesive moisture content is high, and storage environment is humid.
Solution:
- Deepen the indentation depth and calibrate the die-cutting plate accuracy;
- Use low-water content adhesives to control workshop humidity.
6) Design and file issues: design files have low resolution, incorrect format, or do not consider printing processes.
Solution: Work closely with designers to ensure that designs are suitable for printing; use professional prepress software to check and correct files.
7) Insufficient operator skills: Printing quality is unstable due to lack of training or experience of operators.
Solution: Regularly train operators in skills; establish standardized operating procedures; encourage continuous learning and skill improvement.
